My face to face book group read The Greatest Generation a few years back and we weren't overly impressed. We thought there could have been more moving stories than the ones highlighted and the writing itself wasn't special. In the end, we thought it was an uneven effort.
I've had this companion book on my shelf for a long time and in the spirit of a new year approaching, I am weeding out books I don't think I'll read in the near future. Will be releasing it shortly.

This was chosen from an on-line traveling book box. I don't get my news from Tom Brokaw, but every time I've heard him interviewed about this book, there's just something so appreciative and reverential in his voice when he speaks of the people of what he calls the greatest generation...so much so that I feel compelled to read his book!
