For those who love a rattling true yarn about the Cultural Revolution (count me in), this is up there with the best.....what Anhua reveals about herself though is how at the end of the process, she turned into a real operator herself, as manipulative as the country and culture and poltical system she abhorred. I don't think she realises how much she reveals, but that this is a terrifically readable book, in the style of what the Chinese call "wound literature".
