I read this many years ago, and remember very little of the plot; however the front cover has this blurb from Ramsey Campbell: "The most nightmarish vampire story I have ever read."

I read this book originally in like 1987 or 88. I remembered it for nearly 20 years.
I remembered it for a good reason. Garton makes this Stoker nominated book
come alive.
From the first chapter you find yourself entangled in the woes of Davey Owens and
you stay enmeshed until the bitter end. With well drawn characters and tension building this book stays with you long after you've closed the cover.
It *was* as good as I remembered it being. I highly recommend to horror lovers
everywhere.
