The book was one recommended to my daughter in a high school psychology class. I'm not sure if I believe that it was really take from the journals of a teeaged boy. But be that as it may - it pointed out the need to belong. This boy wanted to badly to belong somewhere and got lost trying. Then got into some very dangerous things and got in over his head. From a parent's point of view, it was frightening. From a teenager's point of view - maybe it would help them to be sure they find someone to talk to. Some one who will truly listen.
