The Amber Amulet

I have been a fan of Craig Silvey, ever since I read his very first book "Rhubarb". Since then, I have also checked out his children's version of Rhubarb in "The World According to Warren" and read "Jasper Jones" which I just could not put down. When I heard he was launching this latest book, I rushed out to get hold of a copy. I had a surprise though for it was such a tiny book and full of illustrations too. I made the lady of the store check that it was really the book and not some intro to the book. She was thoroughly confused and decided to check on the book details online, just to make sure. Well, after all of that I must say I really enjoyed reading this book. My only complaint would be that I would have liked it to have been longer. We are lucky that Craig Silvey is a local author for he was visiting the library nearby. Our bookgroup attended the author talk which was fascinating. He talked about all of the research that had gone into writing the book and had the audience completely enthralled as he explained how the story developed. The illustrations are wonderful and really compliment the book.
Ooooh how very exciting, a signed copy of this lovely book - I am intrigued already by the writing inside the dustjacket which says ...
'All you need to know is that the AMBER AMULET will eliminate your unhappiness by counteracting it with POSITIVE ENERGY.'
I could do with that after a Christmas full of turkey and stuffing and mince pies and champagne and Quality Street! :)
Thank you so much once again Carole or such a fun filled package - I'm looking forward to reading both Craig Silvey books.
