It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

Amazon Product Description:

Winner of the Man Booker Prize 2009 'Lock Cromwell in a deep dungeon in the morning,' says Thomas More, 'and when you come back that night he'll be sitting on a plush cushion eating larks' tongues, and all the gaolers will owe him money.' England, the 1520s. Henry VIII is on the throne, but has no heir. Cardinal Wolsey is his chief advisor, charged with securing the divorce the pope refuses to grant. Into this atmosphere of distrust and need comes Thomas Cromwell, first as Wolsey's clerk, and later his successor. Cromwell is a wholly original man: the son of a brutal blacksmith, a political genius, a briber, a charmer, a bully, a man with a delicate and deadly expertise in manipulating people and events. Ruthless in pursuit of his own interests, he is as ambitious in his wider politics as he is for himself. His reforming agenda is carried out in the grip of a self-interested parliament and a king who fluctuates between romantic passions and murderous rages. From one of our finest living writers, 'Wolf Hall' is that very rare thing: a truly great English novel, one that explores the intersection of individual psychology and wider politics. With a vast array of characters, and richly overflowing with incident, it peels back history to show us Tudor England as a half-made society, moulding itself with great passion, suffering and courage.

About the Author:

Hilary Mantel is one of our most important living writers. She is the author of eleven books, including 'A Place of Greater Safety', 'Giving Up the Ghost' and 'Beyond Black', which was shortlisted for the 2006 Orange Prize.

Thank you I'm really looking forward to reading this, but as Mt TBR is huge it may take me a little while to get to it.

I'm sorry that this has been sitting on my TBR pile for so long, the pile is alway growing and never appears to shrink.
I'm afraid I found this a slogg to read, I'd been looking forward to it because of all the glowing reviews I'd seen. I was interested in the story but the style of writing made it very difficult to read and digest, Idon't know if me being dyslexic had any bearing on this.
I am lending this to my son as he would like to try it, it will come back to me to move on to someone else.

But no matter i will get it moving asap :) It's still better than last year when all my christmas exchanges contained The Lion, The witch and the wardrobe lol. bit worried after reading you review though as the person who sent me the other one also says the same thing. Hope I don't find this a slog!

This was a millions times better that the BBC version. But I'm not sure it deserved to win the Man Booker Prize. I read/watch a lot about The Tudors, historical and fictional and it makes me sad that people can make stories about them dull. There was nothing dull about The Tudors!

I started reading this book and I thought 'wow', I can see this being a 5 star read and then I hit this block, where turning the page would be a struggle, then you'd be back into it, not wanting to put it down. It wasn't consistent.

I like Cromwell and it was refreshing that the story was told from his point of view. I was expecting this book to take us to Anne's execution but I'm guessing that is reserved for the next book, which I would like to read. Worth a read but give me Philippa Gregory any day.
