This sat languishing on my TBR Mountain for far too long. It was time to blow th edust off it, read it, and get it circulating!

This was an ok novel, but I think my experience of it was somewhat diminished because the first Barbara Parker novel I read was the one that follows this. There are continuing characters and continuing storylines surrounding them, so I already knew what was going to happen with the main figures. That, of course, lessened a lot of the suspense and tension that could have been part of the story.

The plot was pretty straightforward, and I figured out "whodunit" fairly early on. Parker could have been a bit more subtle with some of the clues, I think, in order to keep the reader guessing.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read - quick and straightforward, and not requiring a lot of investment on the part of the reader. I'll enjoy further books with these characters, but I won't rush out to buy them.
