She's Come Undone

"Meet Dolores Price. She's thirteen, wise-mouthed but wounded, having bid her childhood goodbye. Stranded in front of her bedroom TV, she spends the next few years nourishing herself with the mallomars, potato chips, and Pepsi her anxious mother supplies. When she finally orbits into young womanhood at 257 pounds, Dolores is no stronger and life is no kinder. But this time she's determined to rise to the occasion and give herself one more chance before she really goes under."
***Think Jodi Picoult meets J.D. Salinger with this book - quite enjoyable although I found some bits of the book a bit tedious and just wanted the story to hurry a long a bit more. However, upon saying that, this really is a journey of self-discovery among other life discoveries. This book is one that most people will enjoy. I think.***

MY REVIEW read October 2017
Oh Dolores Price, what a joy you are!
I found this book to be utterly superb, and am kicking myself that it has sat unread on my Mt. TBR for so many years! This ticked every box for me (I can't believe there are so many reviews out there of people up in arms that a MAN dared to write this). It is captivating, harrowing, sad, funny and uplifting....all in one! Someone should've passed me some pom poms while reading this, I was willing Dolores to make the right choice, however she disastrously made the wrong ones, time and time again.
For me, a fan of a lead character being oppressed and completely flawed, I loved taking the journey through Dolores minefield of a life.
So so so looking forward to reading more from Wally Lamb. This book is a gem!
