South of Broad

Once again, Pat Conroy reminds me what beautiful writing is all about. His writing conjures such images and has me convinced that I'm Southern, if only for a while. He has honed those skills to the point of near perfection while creating characters that are a delight to follow. I, personally, would like a whole book devoted to those between years for Trevor. "South of Broad" is no "Prince of Tides" but I highly recommend this intriguing read if you'd like to be transported to the South, even if you're in Idaho!

I read this in 2 days....couldn't put in down. Conroy's writing always blows me away. The compassion and flaws of his characters always touch my heart. And now I have to see Charleston!

What a imaginative and lyrical tale. It was a gift and a treat to read. I felt transported to a multifaceted, much different world than my own. What a skill Conroy employs. To feel the utter love and effect of a city and friends. The beginning of the book was eerily familiar, yet later the story took unexpected hairpin turns. Amazing too, after forty odd years of putting up with football, I finally understand a persons love for sport, love for their team. Destination: Charleston. Bravo Conroy!
