The Miracle at Speedy Motors (No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency)
7 journalers for this copy...
No 9 in the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series.
"In the ninth installment of this infinitely enjoyable and bestselling series, Precious Ramotswe is doing what she does best - solving crimes and taking care of business: her own and everybody else's.
Investigating her latest case, Mma Ramotswe has to trek to a game preserve, where she rediscovers the breathtaking beauty of her beloved Botswana. She is there to uncover the truth about an elderly American traveller whose safari proved to be his last journey. What she discovers is a surprise to everyone concerned.
Meanwhile, problems are also brewing back at the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency: Mma Makutsi has instituted the Complaint Half Hour in order to air her grievances - which works well for her until Mma Ramotswe decides to institute her own version. And life is no less complicated at Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, where Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni is making strange decisions.
But without a doubt - and after several cups of bush tea - Precious Ramotswe will make sure, as only she can, that everything turns out as it should.

Another good one in the series. Simple and effective writing/stories, with common sense used to solve a problem. I like the way that the 'miracle' was not sugary, happy ending.
I have decided to share these books as a book spiral as I consider it a shame that such a delightful series just sits on my shelf unread by others.

I am moving from the UK to China - hence why not a lot of time to read recently.
This book will be in a box being picked up tomorrow, and hopefully I will see it again in about 3 months time on the other side of the world.

This book has survived its ocean voyage in a container ship from the UK and has successfully met up with me here in China - much sooner than expected. Now it will be sitting in its new home waiting to travel again.

This book spiral is in the process of being organised and is open to new members.
1. When you receive the book please make a journal entry to let everyone know that it has arrived safely.
2. Read the book as quick as you can (within 4 weeks if possible). Please put it ahead of any other books, except other bookrings/rays that arrived first. If you need more time that is ok so long as you keep me informed, though a person who holds up a book without explanation may be left out for the remaining books.
3. Please make a journal entry to let everyone know what you thought of the book.
4. When you are nearing the end of the book, pm the next person on the list for their address. Try to avoid sending the book unless he/she has passed on the previous book. Ideally, no one person should be in possession of more than one book at a time as that is ow the previous ring became stalled.
5. Make a journal entry when you have posted the book to show that it is travelling.
Participants so far: The order may change as new members join.
So far it is looking like this:

I have the next few books, YAY! They may take me a while to get through since I have a big book in front of this one.
Can't wait to read them, thank you!
Can't wait to read them, thank you!
Took this on holiday with me to Tywyn, Wales. And I started reading it a couple of days before, but even though I was taken back to the amazing place Botswana, I felt like there was something missing, it just didn't work and didn't add so much to the story, although I did still enjoy it.
I liked the whole bed drama, that was grand, but I still felt the finding of the family was a little far-fetched and just didn't involve the reader all that much.
I shall send this off soon, but not sure when.

This arrived about a week ago. Thanks very much for sending and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues for Mma Ramotswe, etc.
I do enjoy reading these books =) I haven't really been reading recently, which is why it has taken me soooo long to read this. I have started the next one and will send them off soon. I liked that this book was mostly around Mma Ramotswe and not swapping between narrators. The whole book was good!

I'm meeting lunatum today and will give the book for her.
I recieved the book from Appelsiini this week. I have two ring/ray books ahead of this.
I guess I wasn't on the right mood for the book, because at first it was hard to get into the book. After that I enjoyed reading.
I sent the book to next participant.

I am afraid I am a bit behind and have a few other reading commitments to get through first.

Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi receive anonymous letters, the detective agency look for the family of a woman who believes she has no one, Mr J.L.B. Matekoni looks for a miraculous cure for foster daughter Motholeli. Warm humour and affection shines through this series.
