A Confederacy of Dunces

From the back cover: A Confederacy of Dunces is an American comic masterpiece. John Kennedy Toole's hero is one Ignatius J. Reilly, "huge, obese, fractious, fastidious, a latter-day Gargantua, a Don Quixote of the French Quarter. His story bursts with wholly original characters, denizens of New Orleans' lower depths, incredibly true-to-life dialogue, and the zaniest series of high and low comic adventures" (Henry Kisor, Chicago Sun-Times).
I picked this up from the San Francisco BookCrossing meetup last night. It seems not everyone who goes to the meetup actually uses BookCrossing, so it's fallen to me to register it.
This is one of the books on my top 100 books of the 20th century project: http://bookcentury.blogspot.com
Thanks for sharing. I plan to read and release.

I enjoyed this book. It was funny, the characters were memorable and I got a flavour of New Orleans several decades ago. I would recommend it as an entertaining read.
However, I didn't love it and I'm not quite sure why it has a reputation as such a masterpiece. It wasn't amazing.
I've passed this on to a friend who grew up in New Orleans.
