Thrillers and sort-of Spy stories set in late nineteenth century, the lead character (Erast Fandorin) is a functionary-cum-diplomat-sum-sleuth for the Russian authorities. A bit of a troubleshooter, and admirer of Sherlock Holmes' methods. Very good stories... if you like this, search out the whole series!
