Posted today to Klaradyn as an RABCK who entered for it way back when on my one year anniversary draw. I finally got round to reading it. Enjoy (If you can) rather a bleak read.

Thank you, mrbaggins1, I had forgotten about this! It arrived today. I have read 3 other books by McCarthy, and they were all very good, so am looking forward to this one.
I have to confess I'm not going to finish this one. McCarthy's descriptions are beautiful in places, and quite filmic. But the lack of plot bothered me much more than in previous books of his that I'd read. Every time I put this down, I had to force myself to pick it up again. With so many other books to read, I just decided to put this one aside and release it.
Thank you anyway, mrbaggins1, and I'm sorry that I can't give a more favourable opinion.

My book #2 for the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes challenge.
This book uses beautiful language juxtaposed by the most horrendous violence in the setting of the wild west. Peopled by those with no conscience it details survival and choice. Depressing as this is historically true, it leaves one with no hope for the ultimate survival of a species that is determined to destroy. I found it compulsive yet strangely dissatisfying to read. Disturbing and not easily forgotten.
