I usually do appreciate reading Anita Shreve's work every once in a while. I read this a few weeks ago and although I remember I liked it, I already forgot most of the story and what the characters were like. So you could say, they did not leave much of an impression. Not a good sign! What I do remember is, that I did not like the surprising ending. I must say I have enjoyed other books by her (like Sea Glass) more.
