I was really trying to like this series, since I am a scrap booking addict, and love browsing craft stores. Jo is a recent widow, having moved to a small town to open a craft store with the help of her best friend Carrie. In this book she stumbles upon the dead body of a prominent local developer. In order to keep an innocent person from being arrested she conducts her own investigation. In the end, the murderer fears she is getting too close to the truth and kidnaps her.

The last part of the book is at least suspenseful, but the book just plods along otherwise. The author tries to present more than one possible suspect but it's not hard to suspect the real killer before you're halfway into the book. It's difficult to get past the idea that this woman, Jo, of no particularly amazing intellect, inuitiveness or training, can solve crimes that stump the police.

It was enjoyable mostly because of her colorful local characters, and there is talk of crafts, but not enough to make me pick up any more books by this author. It's a nice book to read if you want something to make you drowsy before bed.
