Borrowing this from a co-worker, thanks Robbi.

11-18-2008---The message in this book is the story. This is the story of a man who was declared dead for ninety minutes and then returned from heaven to go through a horrendous recovery and come to grips with his disabilities and abilities. I still don't know how I feel about the NDE (near death experience) but I had to appreciate that most of his book was about recovery and how the author learned during his recovery what it was he had to live for.
Working in a trauma unit I deal with recovery everyday and this gave some insight. I think we become hardened to the patients experience because we see lots of people go through trauma and recovery while we need to understand that for each individual and each family it is (usually) their only experience and it can be life altering in more ways than one. What I take from the message is to look to each day with hope for each of my patients to reach the highest level of recovery they can and understand that it is my life work to get them to that point, to get them to see Rehab as their next life and then to see life beyond that. When I am at work many days I turn the Bob Marley song "Jammin" into a work song. "We're working, we're working in the name of the Lord,... we're woking, right straight from Ja."
I thank Robbi again for sharing this book. I will keep it's lessons with me.
