Another great from Richard Laymon. Don't want to give too much plot away as I have offered this too EllyMae58. Waiting for reply.

Well, Laymon has written some great books, but personally, I didn't think this was one of them. It took a while before the connection between the characters could be understood, and by then I didn't even care. The whole Linda plotline just seemed convoluted to me.

Adding to MsPooh's bookbox, which will be mailed on 6/26!

~~~Thanks a Bunch!!
She looked up at the window and shuddered.
The girl pressed against the glass, eyes wide open in horror,lips drawn back in a soundless scream of terror: that girl was her. That was her body roughly seized from behind, the clutching hands cupping her, pinning her, thrusting her forward.
She looked up at her own face as the shotgun blasted out.
She saw the glass shatter, saw the buckhead slam into her face, saw skin, features, flesh disintegrate into blood and pulp...
'Cut, cut!' said the director. 'Beautiful.'
All illusion: her handiwork, her professional skills, her very personal contribution to the blurring of make-believe and reality.
But still she shuddered.
Just for a moment came the premonition of a horror that would not be restricted to the film set.
~~~Well, I have to agree with EllyMae58, this was not one of the best Laymon books. I think I understand why the Linda story line was there, but it did not do much but distract from the Dani part. In my opinion. Any ways, glad I got the chance to read it, altho I was not very impressed.

This book is making its way to JamieH2003, whom I saw wishing for it.

Thanks so much for fulfilling my wish MsPooh and for the bonus Herbert book as well! I will be reading and then doing a bookring with this once I've finished.

While this had the traditional Laymon trademarks, horny teen-aged boys with a vicious streak, nude or semi-nude women, and brutality, it just didn't add up to a great tale. Like MsPooh and ellymae58 I found the transition between two sets of characters to be awkward. Either one on its own would have been an interesting tale if developed further but by combining the two it gave short shrift to story and character development on both fronts. I will be doing a horrortrades bookray with this.

I agree with all the reviews given. I just never did get fully into this tale. The changes in characters and settings to me was abrupt and wasn't clearly defined. I was left with a few questions and I hate when that happens.

Sending this book off to Jana. :)

Received this in the mail today.

3-20 ** I sped through this book pretty fast. It took me a bit to connect the characters. Like it was mentioned before, the characters and different story lines had the potential to be expanded more. It always shocks me a bit on how brutal Laymon's books are. You are just reading along and bam someone gets their head smashed in.

Ok, got my mailing info-will go out in tomorrow's mail.
