My comments relating to Seekers at Wolfrock apply here as well, though Horwood seems to be making his way relentlessly towards the conclusions he comes to in that book, this one is not quite so severe. I take issue with his feeling that the answer to the problems of environmental degradation and pollution and habitat destruction lie in a return to some kind of animistic tree-worshipping religion ruled by animal spirits. I would agree that a corrupt and twisted understanding of Christian faith has been partly responsible for these pressing problems, but would insist instead that a return to a dialogic relationship with the Creator would bring us back into right relationship with the earth and with each other.
