This isn't the first Spenser book, but it is the first one I ever read. I don't even like mysteries. I was fourteen. We were at the beach. It was raining. I was bored. My sister gave me the book she brought, as I'd finished mine. Great stuff! I just fell in love with the series. I thought maybe I was wrong and I did like mysteries. I tried several others. Nope. I don't like mysteries. But I do like Spenser.
