Synopsis
At the foot of Mount Kanchenjunga in the Himalayas, lives an embittered old judge who wants nothing more than to retire in peace. But with the arrival of his orphaned granddaughter, Sai, and his cook's son trying to stay a step ahead of US immigration services, this is far from easy. When a Nepalese insurgency threatens Sai's blossoming romance with her handsome tutor they are forced to consider their colliding interests. The judge must revisit his past, his own journey and his role in this grasping world of conflicting desires every moment holding out the possibility for hope or betrayal.

Will be passing this to juliako on Saturday - she won this from me in a swap.
Another interesting book from Katisha50 - thank you!
Passed on to me by juliako. This book was full of sweeping themes and well drawn characters, but I was a but neutral about the plot which was a bit meandering. If the connection to the characters had been deeper this might not have been perceived. Don't know if this was the author or my reaction. The minor charatcers were far more interesting than Sai and Gyan and their relationship didn't seem very credible. What do other readers think?
I am going to reserve this to put in the 'First Sentences Virtual book box' hosted by collectorkerri.
