This excellent book helped me understand and find patience with my daughter. It helped me to know that she was not trying to be difficult, or strong-willed, but that we were simply different personalities. She was and still is hyper-sensitive to textures, tastes, and sounds, and notices the smallest details in everything. I learned to appreciate that and work with her instead of battling over things that didn't really matter. I learned to respect her sensitivities as part of who she was and stopped assuming that she was just being difficult to make me crazy or get attention. She is 13 now and we still have our moments but overall we communicate pretty well. She turned out to be a very gifted artist. I hope this book plants the seeds of a beautiful parent/child relationship for another family the way it did for us.
