My brother got me the 'missing' Dan Brown books for Christmas last year, and now I finally managed to read Digital Fortress. I have to say that I loved Da Vinci Code and especially Angels and Demons, which was gripping from the beginning to the end. So I was a bit disappointed at first to find out that Robert Langdon doesn't show up in Brown's earlier works. But, I have to say, I didn't miss him. The two main characters of this book, Susan and David, are also vividly present. As to the story of the infected NSA computer... well, I didn't find it as interesting as Da Vinci or Angels and Demons. I especially disliked to ten or so pages until they find out the prime difference between the two Uranium isotopes. Okay, maybe with my education the number 3 is the first thing that comes to my mind and I cannot expect everyone to know this, but I found the characters really really dumb in this part. ;) So this kind of cracked the suspense of the book, which also isn't as dense as in Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons. That's why I give Digital Fortress only 8 points. Yes, it is suspenseful, but not as good as what I'm used to from Dan Brown. ;)
