The story of Patrick Scully, an under-achiever from Monaghan stuck in a dead-end job in Dublin with a girlfriend who doesn't really like him.
This is very funny in places (as you'd expect from an author who is best-known as a comedian), but you just know something really bad is going to happen. Also not one to lend to Auntie Vera, as the language is pretty foul(and I say this as a real pottymouth myself).
A critic from the Observer described it as "a kind of cross between The Diary of Adrian Mole and The Butcher Boy" - and they're not far wrong. I'd say fans of The Butcher Boy would enjoy it (although not sure all Adrian Mole fans would!)
Reading as one of 10 of 100 of 1001 Books To Read Before You Die challenge.

This one came in the mail today. Thanx a bunch!
I wanted to love this book. I liked it. I had a lot of trouble with some of the Irish slang. The story was good. I had some trouble keeping up at times because it wasn't completely 'linear.' (I'm getting more and more that way as I age. Rats!) Also a bit disappointed with the ending.
