Hoping to eventually read the whole series of George's Inspector Lynley series. This is number 4.

The fourth book in the series, yet a little disconcerting because it is a prequel - it occurs before the first book, Lynley does not yet work with Havers, and it is the story of how St. James and Deborah get together. Yet none of this is explained in a foreword or anything, so it's a bit confusing if you are reading the series in order.

Of the four I've read so far this one most treats the crime as incidental to the furthering development of the sleuthing characters. I did really enjoy it, once I'd realized when it was set!
