His friend's invitation to go "out stealing horses" started off a whole series of events that changed his life completely. In his old age he meets someone who brings back memories.

Wow, I don't know what to say about this book except that it was deeply moving and lyrical. I need to absorb it a bit to write a proper JE, I've just finished it and it had quite an impact on me.
I'm going to include this in time-traveler's bookbox. While not obviously bizarre, it's disquieting and written in an off-kilter manner, so I think it fits the theme. It's also an excellent novel and I'd like to give a fellow BCer a chance to enjoy it.
