Well written story told from the point of view of an elderly woman, remembering her childhood in pre World War II Southern France. As always with the author, the cookery has an important part in the narration. Nothing cerebral, but a nice read on a long journey, or on holiday.

Thanks to YowlYY for sending me this- isn't bookcrossing great- like Christmas every day!
Enjoyed this one more than Chocolat I think- sharper edged somehow. A good bus-to-work read. Thanks YowlYY. Ready for release if anyone out there wants it...

When I started reading this book it made me want to go to France and also to try out some of the recipes - they all sounded delicious. However once I got into the story there was so much more to it and I found it quite gripping and hard to put down. Very easy and quick to read. Will defnitely try some of Joanne Harris' other books.

Found the book hard to read and never really got into it - at no stage did I find I couldn't put it down and it took me ages to read.
