This won the 2007 Booker Prize. I have no idea how.
There were moments of beautiful prose but I found this quite dark and supremely boring. There was nothing to endear the reader to any of the characters and I would be quite happy to see them all wallow in their mostly self imposed misery for eternity.
The pace and mood did pick up a notch in the last 50 pages but by then it was too late. Its really no wonder I have developed an aversion to Booker Prize winners.
