The Red Tent

'Her name is Dinah. In the Bible, her life is only hinted at in a brief and violent detour within the more familiar chapters about her father, Jacob, and his dozen sons in the Book of Genesis.
Told in Dinah's voice, this novel reveals the traditions and turmoil of ancient womanhood-the world of the red tent. It begins with the story of her mothers-Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilbah-the four wives of Jacob. They love Dinah and give her gifts that are to sustain her through a hard-working youth, a calling to mid-wifery, and a new home in a foreign land. Dinah's story reaches out from a remarkable period of early history and creates an intimate, immediate connection.'

Thank you!
I will confess, this was not my type of book but hearing so many wonderful things in bookcrossing about the book convinced me to give it a try.
It was a Wonderful book, It was very hard to put down, very easy to imagine that it was a true story, the story was beautifully written with wonderful prose and descriptive details.
Im planning on sending this book to another bookcrosser and buying a copy of my own.
Thank you Beachglass!

I've been wanting to read this book for a long time. Thank you, Valkerie119, for sending this book my way. I'm presently typing this with my eyes closed because I just got Lasik yesterday and am not supposed to look at the computer screen. The crazy thing is that my husband works nights and I cannot do anything: read, use the computer exercise, housework, watch tv, etc for a few days. I definitely cannot move my eyes back and forth to read anything. I'm so totally lost without being able to read for a few days. Can you imagine! All I can do is listen to books on tape (and that gets old after a while -- it doesn't feel the same at all) and generally walk around with dark sunglasses. But it will be worth it in the end! I have 20/15 sight now -- that's way better than normal!
Anyhow, I'm ranting on, but thanks again for sending the book. I can't wait til I can read again and I can dig in!

RELEASE NOTES:
After reading the first couple of pages, I decided that this is not a book I'd be interested at this point in my life. So out into the wild it goes.
