I've definitely got to read this before I release it!
I really liked this book. It is written for kids, but the author does a really incredible job of weaving a suspenseful story. The characters were great too. Socker Furlong, Djuna, and Waterbury are unusual names given to unique and imaginative characters. The setting is a typical enough idyllic town where one solitary house is under suspicion of paranormal activity. Paranormal becomes criminal howevr when a dog, a turtle, and a Spanish speaking parrot cross the lines of a desperate counterfietter cranking out tens to pass in Mexico.
The story is well organised with great details, clever lines, and amusing dialogue. Today's young adults may be skeptical about the mannerisms, colloquialisms, and vacant loyalty of the boys. The story is reminescent of the cheery atmosphere in Leave it to Beaver and is a great example of what YA lit used to be.

Recieved from Sarah. I will give this one a read and add it to my book club stack. Thanks Sarah.
This really was a pretty good story. It is older, so the language is a bit outdated, but other than that it is a clever kids mystery. Not too exciting, but at the same time, intriguing enough for the YA mystery lover. Great intro to the genre for kids patient enough to read it.
