Shanghai Baby
5 journalers for this copy...
A story about a young couple growing up in an impersonal city, trying to find personal identity and contentment in a busy world with so much going on - Who am I, indeed. Who am I?
As mentioned on the back: "I was looking for a voice of my generation. The gap that divides those of us born in the 1970s and the older generation has never been so wide" - Wei Hui, Reuters. I could identify a little with this, spending several years of my 20s in London and still not settled...Beautifully written in places, and enough of a storyline to keep you wondering what was going to happen in the end.

What a surprise! Thank you so much, Timber77.
What happened was i got 2 of these books, so this 1 will be released tonight during our local meet-up.
Looks interesting! Thanks Sirah!
The book is now read and I have to admit that I didn't like it much. It's so slow going, I started to wait what's happening and when. When Madonna appeared I thought, well, now we're talking!, but then a disappoinment again.
Characters didn't really impress me. Tian Tian! What a trifling guy he was! And what did he know about love anyway! What ever there was the main character saw in him, didn't open to me. (He let her write?)
I'll try to find more tolerable readers to the book next. Thanks anyway Sirah, for passing this book forward. #6 for Reduce your Mount TBR challenge 2010 by DoveiLibri.

I had this book on my wish list (imaginary, or the real one) and Niksu offered to send it to me. Thank you Niksu for the kind offer. I already started reading it so we will soon see how I like it. I did enjoy the other book (the name of which escapes me right now) by this author.
