nw bought this today at the Bibles for Missions thrift store - they were having a book sale, so it was only 20 cents. PC

From the front cover:

THE HOBBIT
J.R.R. TOLKIEN

From the back cover:

A great modern classic and the prelude to THE LORD OF THE RINGS

Smaug certainly looked fast asleep, when Bilbo peeped once more from the entrance. He was just about to step out on to the floor when he caught a sudden thing and piercing ray of red from under the drooping lid of Smang's left eye. He was only pretending to sleep! He was watching the tunnel entrance...

Whisked away from his comfortable hobbit-hole by Gandalf the wizard and a band of dwarves, Bilbo Baggins finds himself caught up in a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon...

'An exciting epic of travel and magical adventure.'
OBSERVER

I just picked up this book at the Bookcrossing table at the local library. I'll be reading it over the next few months and returning it to the library for the next reader.

CAUGHT IN PRINCE GEORGE BC CANADA

Picked up The Hobbit book at the Prince Public Library in late 2011 at their used book sale. My husband and I both read it; he has read this story before, and it was the first time for me. A real story with a great plot which was very difficult to put down. A wonderful adventure that will surely stimulate the imagination!
Today, I am giving it to the Maskwacis Cultural College at the Canadian First Nations' Hobemma reserve. They are starting up a library and need to fill it with books. For more info: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2013/06/10/edmonton-hobbema-public-library-kheterpal.html
