I read this book a few months ago as a bookring & really enjoyed it (you can read the journal entries here)so when I saw it at a library sale I had to have it!

It's arrived! Many thanks to the lovely Plum-crazy for sending me this as part of a trade. I have a handful of books that I have to read first, but I've been looking forward to reading this, and it's near the top of Mt TBR ;-)

RELEASE NOTES:

I came to Affinity with very high expectations, as I had read a couple of Sarah Waters' other books, and enjoyed them very much.

I found the descriptions of life in a Victorian women's prison interesting, and it was strong on atmosphere, but the story was really hard to get in to somehow. By the time the pace picked up, my interest was waning. Nice twist at the end, but getting there was hard work!

Was it just me? I think it must be, because it has had some rave reviews from other bookcrossers. Hopefully, this copy may have a chance to travel on and find another appreciative reader. I've released it today into the wild at Selfridges, 3rd Floor, Ladies Toilets, during a heavy-duty shopping trip.
