The Place is a great mystery thriller novel. Set in major a Northern Ontario city most of the action takes place in the city and nearby First Nation reserve involving fictional First Nation characters.

The story evolves around the exploits of a serial killer with a passion for young First Nation women. When a First Nation girl found murdered in the city police becomes the killer’s next victim, police report it as a prostitute killing. The victim's crisis worker friend, April Kenewabi begins to search for evidence to counter police prostitution accusations as the reason for the killing. Enlisting the help of a local newspaper reporter and former RCMP officer that suspects the criminal formerly lived in an isolated Arctic community, the trio uncovers evidence suggesting the killer is connected to her own reserve.

As the killer becomes more brazen while evading police investigation for the original killing, April becomes the next victim slated for the place set up to play out the murderer’s fantasies. Stalking April’s teenage daughter at a local shopping Mall the killer succeeds in kidnapping the daughter as a ploy to lure April to The Place.

The action-filled, page turning encounters with the killer reveals the killer’s reason for his preoccupation with First Nation women leading to his final demise.
