Usually, I'm not one for memoirs or biographies, but "A Year in Provence" captured my attention from the first pages. Mayle chronicals the first year he and his wife spent in Provence as permanent residents. From vineyards to plumbers, food to eccentric neighbors, "Provence" provides a highly amusing read which is not limited to those knowledgable in French culture. Highly recommended.
