This is, ultimately, an intensely personal journey through song, and because of that, it's hard for me to judge it. I only knew a couple of the songs Hornby writes about, which probably made it a little harder to understand exactly what he was talking about. However, it's still an interesting insight into Hornby's life.

The book has safely arrived, thanks, perfect-circle! This seems to be really different from the other books by Hornby I've read. I suppose I've to look for my old vinyl albums to listen to these songs Hornby writes about - I have music at least from Led Zeppelin, Santana, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Beatles, Bruce Springsteen...

Ha, ha - I had a nostalgic morning today listening to my old vinyl records, especially Bruce Springsteen, because Hornby tells about his song 'Thunder Road' in the beginning of this book. Unfortunately I hadn't heard most of the songs, so I missed a big part of this book. I liked the biographical parts of the book best, Hornby tells quite open-mindedly about his life.

I got a double copy of this book from the flea market today, for this copy I have a special plan :)

I got a surprise RABCK from Kununurra for a while ago - now it's my turn to make a surprise to Torchgirl, who had this book on the wish list. Enjoy!

Journal Entry 7 by Torchgirl from Kalamunda, Western Australia Australia on Saturday, September 27, 2008
I received this book recently and finally I'm journaling it, thank you very much Lukutuoli for the great RABCK, a wonderful suprise!
I've read his other books so I was interested in reading this one. OK, I found it hard to read straight through instead I've been dipping in and out. I suppose your attention is kept by the music you actually know, and I did know some of it (thankfully!) But I thought it came across as a wee bit self-indulgent which ultimately lost my interest. Can I pick my own songs please?:)
