Diego de Godoy arrives in the New World in search of treasure - he finds love, chocolate, and the elixir of life. Denied his lover, he and his dog Pedro search the world to recapture what he first experienced in Mexico. His search is a journey through time and the history of chocolate.

As much as anything it was the title of this book that drew me to it. That and the fact that the back cover quotes 'A story of love, chocolate and a greyhound called Pedro.' Possibly I read it at a bad time in RL but I didn't find it as engaging as I had hoped. Parts of it were amusing and other parts a bit sad. Curiosity kept me going to the end and I did find that satisfying.
I entered it in a book swap game before I read it, thinking the title would appeal and it did. It was stolen several times. I will be sending it on soon to the winner and I hope that later readers do enjoy reading it.

received as part of a bookswap - the title intrigued me I do hope it lives up to my expectations

Being a chocoholic I couldn't resist this book.

A fictional history lesson about chocolate and its various uses with a love story as the glue holding it together. An interesting read.

Taking this to the meet and releasing there.
Taking this to the meet and releasing there.
Picked up at The Harrow (High Wycombe) meet yesterday - thanks teachie. One for my daughter, I think - another chocaholic - if she hasn't already read it.
March 14th - my daughter already has this one, but she recommended it, so now it's my turn to read it.
March 22nd - an enjoyable read - the idea of a love-story through time is intriguing, and gives an interesting, if selective, 'potted history' of chocolate.
Like PurpleRosebud I'm not sure it was 100% satisfying (Fry's rather than Lindt?) but well worth a read.

I found this book in the White Hart OBCZ in Harwell village and decided it looks worth a read. Going on Mount tbr ( and it's already a tower!)
