Slapped wrist for me! I read this book soon after acquiring it and neglected to write a journal entry.
Even though it's now several months since I read it I still remember the story and how I found it informative (I knew nothing about wartime Shanghai) and gripping. I've read Remains of the Day by this author and enjoyed that too, so will probably read further books by him.
