Disturbing. The narrator (also the victim of the crime) is gentle about it and even though I can't watch horror movies I made it through the worst of it (chapter one). Having just finished, I am still processing how this book has affected me. It is a book to take personally and how you feel about it is a lot of what carries this book. Confront your (relative) mortality (compared to the narrator, most of us will have it easy), the nature of evil and loneliness, and the bland, sustaining, healing wash of life that carries us all along.
