It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

Fry has already given readers a taste of his tumultuous adolescence in his autobiographical first novel, The Liar, and now he reveals the equally tumultuous life that inspired it. Sent to boarding school at the age of seven, he survived beatings, misery, love affairs, carnal violation, expulsion, attempted suicide, criminal conviction and imprisonment to emerge, at the age of eighteen, ready to start over in a world in which he had always felt a stranger. One of very few Cambridge University graduates to have been imprisoned prior to his freshman year, Fry is a brilliantly idiosyncratic character who continues to attract controversy, empathy and real devotion.

I enjoyed this very much. I read "The Fry Chronicles" first and now "Moab" has cleared up some of the questions I had. It's hard to imagine Fry being so mad and bad & it's a shame he still suffers such low esteem - I know he's fit for more than holding water that has cleaned feet. The writing shows compassion & affection for the young Stephen & people from his youth.

When I finished this book I had to watch "Peter's Friends" (1992) again - I find it hard to believe that it's almost 20 years old.

Picked up at the Canberra bookcrossers meet-up for the New Year's Eve fireworks over Lake Burley Griffin. I love Stephen Fry so I am looking forward to reading this one. I also have The Fry Chronicles which I haven't read as yet, so this will be a good one to read first.

thanks D-face! And happy New Year!

Wow, this book is so honest and Fry writes unashamedly of his exploits. I read the first half on his schooling at Stouts Hill, but only skimmed through the second half. It's not that I was not interested, but I have found that I haven't enough time to read everything! I still have Fry's latest biography to read, which I bought as soon as it was released, but haven't got around to it.
Not enough hours in the day. I am heading to Sydney so will see if there is a new reader there, otherwise will release at the next bookcrossing meet up in June at King O'Malley's.

An interesting read about the first twenty years of Stephen Fry's life; his highs and lows. He was very open about his life. He wrote about his young years, being expelled from school, his downward spiral, his arrest, jailing, and how he turned his life around.

Now the book is ready for another reader.

Seized with glee at the National Sound and Film Archive cafe. What a lovely building this is. So many books - I was good and only took two away. I love Fry's stuff - so incredibly witty and thoughtful and entertaining.
