Tom Holt is a wonderfully inventive writer and his books have some wonderfully evocative titles. He is one of the (in my opinion) unfortunate writers that gets compared to Terry Pratchett. And this is not a comparison that he can live up to.

Nothing but Blue Skies is one of Holt's better books however and a good introduction to his style if you haven't read anything by him before. And it does offer a good explanation as to why we get so much rain here in Britain...

Well this book helped me through my 10hr flight to Rio and has since been seen on Copacabana beach, relaxing beside the hotel pool and enjoying the hammock in The Mango Tree Hostel... however all good things must come to an end and we're leaving Rio in the next couple of days. I'm going to release this book at the hostel in the hope that someone passing through may pick it up to help them through their long flight or bus journey.

As for comments on the book itself, it is a good read, the plot is not too complex and it served me well as a 'dip in dip out' type of book. As always Tom Holt's great similes and his ability to make the ludicrous seem even vaguely habitual are used to great effect. Based around dragons this is not the most bizarre of his books and would probably serve as a gentle introduction to his writings.
