Dancing Girls and Other Stories
3 journalers for this copy...
Here is a vivid gallery of the men and women we all know, seen only as Margaret Atwood can see them. They are farmers, birdwatchers, gossips, rooming-house regulars: all normal people, some a little crazy. They write poems, they take lovers, they feel pain, they need money, they follow rules, they break down. They live in a world of coiled relationships and daily struggles...and they triumph in ways that surprise and delight us.
I have an extra copy of this, so I've sent it on to RockDg9 via BookObsessed relays; mailed March 22nd. Enjoy!
Arrived safe and sound. Thanks.
Most of the stories are excellent, the rest are pretty damn good. And all of them are about us. None of the characters are particularly strong or brave in a traditional sense - they are normal people the reader can identify with. The collection is by turns melancholy and intense, light and amusing. By the end you are left with a feeling of honest optimism.

Wonderful stories! I love every book by Margaret Atwood, this one was no exception. I always find something about me in her books, and I always thought it was something about me why I was so close to her characters, but apparently I am not the only one :))
Lending this book to my sister who is a great fan of Margaret Atwood too, but not a bookcrosser unfortunately... :)
