A classic, published in 1948 but timely still. Beautiful, moving. Lovely descriptions of a troubled but beautiful country.
Controlled release to friend at Wits University.
My friend Katy had re-read the book recently and offerred it to me on the condition that I then release it. I have left it with a friend to be read, on the same condition.
As a student living in South Africa for a year, my re-read of Cry, The Beloved Country reminded me exactly why I chose to be here.

As a student from the United States studying in South Africa, I found the book to be very insightful: a simplistic yet lyrical tale that explores the true meaning of a family in the context of a country broken and bruised by racism. I only wish I'd read it sooner.
It has now been released at the V&A Waterfront, the biggest tourist attraction in town. We'll see where it lands next.
