I would like to think this would become a required text in our education system. Though categorized as fiction it is well and truly based on fact.

What a wonderful, beautiful story! Reading about the early white settlement of NSW from dusty textbook accounts is normally SO dull but Grenville has made it so real and tangible for me.

Highly recommended to EVERYONE! I too think this book should be required reading in school.

Passed to me by Lisagt and I am so pleased to have read this wonderful,historical journey.As a genealogist I learned a great deal about early life in the Colony,based on fact.This is a story you can't put down, beautifully written and so real.Ilook forward to reading'Searching for The Secret River'about how Grenville came to write and research her story.Ditto the text in schools comment from norfolk and Lisagt.
