This is my favourite of Alcott's books. I read it as a girl and really identified with Polly, a young girl from the country sent to live with her sophisticated city cousins, the Shaws.
Polly is a sweet, kind girl who, upon returning to the sity as an adult to teach piano, finds her destiny when she renews her friendship with her cousins.
This is a simple, engaging tale of love and kindness and Polly, Tom and Fanny are wonderful characters whose stories are touching and heartwarming.
