Delicious Dominick Dunne... reading his books is like being at a party and having him take you aside to dish about everyone and everything.
This book is a collection of Mr. Dunne's essays that appeared in Vanity Fair, covering subjects from the Menendez brothers to Michael Skakel. Too much of the book, however, is spent on O.J. Simpson... and because the essays were originally published during the time of the trial, it's odd to read a statement about something happening "last month" when it has now been years.
The book opens with the story of his own daughter's murder and the subsequent trial of her murderer... such a farce and miscarriage of justice that it inspired Mr. Dunne to take up the subject of victim's rights. It is very touching to read that the greatest tragedy of his life - his daughter's murder - led him to the writing career that has brought him the greatest joy.
