My Life and Hard Times (Rep)
2 journalers for this copy...
I saw this while at a used bookstore and remembered it being on Wingedman's wishlist. I decided to pick it up and send to him. I will release to him as part of the "This would have been perfect for.." Release Challenge. I suspect this book will get a smile from Wingedman and therefore this book would have been perfect for the "Bet I can make you smile" release challenge.
From the back cover:
In My Life and Hard Times, Thurber returns to his starting point - the delightful choas and frustrations brought on by family, boyhood, youth, odd dogs, and recalcitrant machinery on the quiet university town of his birth,
This is one of the most deeply himerous books of our century. Not only is it a "memoir" that takes into account the crumbling of empires, it talks "largely about small matters and smally about great affairs." Mostly it is about the wildly incredible things people do when they think they are acting sensibly. Yet Thirberdoes more than just tickle your funny bone. He has quietly and unobtrusively, but permanently, deflated your false pride in the essential sanity and prudence of the human race.
