Seri and Karon are a love struck couple. Their love is undeterred by the fact that Karon is a Healer - a sorcerer, one might say - in a world where sorcerers are anatema. When the man is tried and burned at the stake for saving Seri's life, she blames him for his refusal to help himself and their unborn son, for accepting his fate and leaving her to an empty life.
Ten years after, as a strange, amnesic, mute young man finds his way to Seri's door, she is once again driven to find meaning in his mysterious past and gloomy future. No small surprise discovering the man she calls Aeren is a sorcerer, when there shouldn't be any left alive in the world... but stranger still, the man seems top have his fate bound with hers, and finding clues to his former life will point Seri to her own future in a magic-filled world.
I liked this book a lot. The weak point, just as in "Transformation", the 1st book in the Rai-Kirah trilogy, is the careless writing, loose threads right at the end mar the beauty of the complete tale.
I knew there was a sequel (three of them , to be precise), but I really don't like to find the 1st, meant-for-a-once-try book, giving the "start point" feeling. I have already a few bad experiences there.

The book will stay with me, as I got it after a long and sustained effort. Still, it will go the rounds among my friends and first of all, it'll go to my brother's TBR.
