I'm surprised I haven't read this before. It's the second in Anne Perry's Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mystery series. As usual, it focuses on the nasty secrets hidden by the prim upperclass of Victorian London.

Okay, I think this is one I haven't read before. She wrote another one called Cardington Crescent, and I think I read that one. We shall see.
The blurb on the back is pretty funny. "Inspector Pitt's well-bred wife didn't often meddle in her husband's business. . . ." Of course she did! That's the whole point of the series!! :-)
