Not one of Oprah's best picks, and she DID pick some good ones..but not bad either..I'm planning to register more books this year (resolution time) and move the "just OK" ones out to make room on my shelves for the "keepers"..as we all know, one reader's just OK is another reader's keeper!

I had put off reading this book, because I was tired of depressing books. It was a little depressing, but not as bad as I thought. Plus, I read it in a few hours, so I didn't have be depressed on a nightly basis. Helen and her family are forced to move in with her husband's parents after her husband loses his job. Helen's in-laws are bitter, joyless people with no tolerance for the change Helen and her two children bring to their routine. Helen's husband, James, turns into a shmuck once he's back with his parents. Despite her unsupportive family, Helen will eventually find the courage to leave the situation (and her husband) behind. Thank god.
