Set in the time of the Romans, a tale of military adventure & heroism.

Full of action, but the tiny historical details are not always accurate. A bookish young freeman is given an immediate place as an optio in a region legion and then has to earn the respect & loyalty of his comrades. The main characters are likeable & there's a sub plot of political plotting to try to decipher alongside.
